This is going to be an official spinoff series of the The Clone Wars that just recently ended earlier this year. The new Star Wars: The Bad Batch animated series will arrive on Disney Plus' streaming platform in 2021 in partnership with Lucasfilm.

Dave Filoni will be its executive producer, the same man behind other spinoff series The Rebels, The Mandalorian, and of course The Clone Wars.

According to the announcement, the The Bad Batch will follow the story of "the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch - a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army - each posses a singular exceptional skill, which makes them extra ordinarily effective and a formidable crew. In the post-Clone War era, they will take on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find new purpose."

With the announcement of the Star Wars: The Bad Batch, Disney Plus keeps on growing its roster of shows from the Star Wars universe. We know that the second season of The Mandalorian is arriving soon, some reports even claim that the third season is already in the works. Then there is another one focused on the Rogue One film's rebel spy Cassian Andor which will be led by the same actor from the movie, and then of course the highly anticipated Obi-Wan series starring the same man who gave life to it in the big screen, Ewan McGregor.

Disney+ is an exciting streaming platform for popular culture fans around the world, hopefully this will arrive in the Philippines soon as well.
